The selection of Acoustic Barrier is dependant on the performance required and the type of structure which is to be isolated.

Tiflex Acoustic Barrier must be laid directly onto an existing or new timber or concrete floor substrate. The substrate must be free from unevenness and in a good condition.

For ultimate performance the most effective method of laying the material is with the joints of the Acoustic Barrier staggered across the substrate. The material should be adhered to the substrate and securely butted up to each adjoining sheet, ensuring a tight fit across the entire area to be covered. Any gaps will allow transmission of vibration and movement of the barrier after the fitting of the floor covering.

Installation

The information provided below is for guidance only, each individual application will vary slightly from that described and clarification should be sought from a suitably qualified Architect or Designer.

Acoustic Barrier

Where stairs form the boundary between two adjoining buildings, particularly where either building is used as a dwelling, the stairs must be isolated using Tiflex Acoustic Barrier 10 or 15. Tiflex Acoustic Barrier material should be measured and cut to suit each individual stair tread and the riser.

In all installations care should be taken when fixing the material that no fixtures are used which provide a vibration bridge which will transmit vibration throughout the structure.
