Sliding Bearings

An ideal choice for accommodating large lateral movements, particularly if  associated with high vertical loads.

These two-part bearings are designed to cater for a wide range of sliding applications and will accommodate large movements resulting from expansion and contraction etc. The  bearings may be backed with TICO resilient materials to enhance their capability and allow for rotation or displacement in addition to their ability to slide.

  • Maintenance-free sliding surfaces
  • Excellent wear and abrasion resistance
  • Tailored to suit individual applications
  • Comparable with the service life of the structure
  • Can be supplied ready bonded to steel backing plate for quick on-site installation
  • Excellent chemical and weather resistance
  • Low coefficient of friction between two sliding surfaces
  • Supplied with all characteristics of the resilient substrate for vibration and noise attenuation
  • TICO Bondslip bearings are manufactured to customers' specific requirements.

Key Advantages and Properties

Structural Bearings

Tico Bondslip Bearings are manufactured to customers specific requirements and will generally comprise an upper and a lower component. It is normal to supply the sliding bearings with the upper nylon component having a larger plan area than the lower resiliently backed PTFE unit. This is to allow for the anticipated movement of the bearing and also to act as an umbrella, thus preventing detritus from collecting on the sliding surface. Our Tico Structural Bearings department will be pleased to advise on specific designs and the selection of materials.

Supply details

It is an advantage, and of considerable benefit to the installer if the bearings are supplied individually identified, particularly when a variety of sizes are employed. Bondslip units can be supplied pre-marked, each with their respective location or grid position.

Tico Bondslip Bearings are custom made for all applications. The most common construction is shown below (not to scale):

Construction of bearings

Steel backing plate (grade and thickness determined by application). Factory bonded to sliding element.

Upper member

Sliding element  2.5mm CV/S/NG Molybdenum disulphide loaded nylon sliding face with CV/S backing for bonding to steel.

Allowing for heat dispersion during welding of backing plate to main structure.

High quality PTFE factory bonded to resilient substrate. (Both PTFE and resilient substrate grades determined by application). Plan dimensions always smaller than Upper Member CV/S/NG to create an umbrella effect, protecting the PTFE surface.

Steel backing plate (grade and thickness determined by application).Factory bonded to sliding element.

Lower member
