Oxbridge Cricket Sponsors Vintage Cricket

Vintage Cricket is a growing fraternity of Over 35 cricketers who gather every 2 years at an international venue to continue their involvement in the great game.

World Vintage Cricket Carnivals have been held in Adelaide (South Australia) 2003, Perth (WA) 2005, Barbados 2006, Stratford-upon-Avon 2008 and the 5th World Carnival will be held in Cape Town in March, 2010.

To date teams from England, Australia, Scotland, Trinidad, India, New Zealand, Ireland, USA, Canada and Barbados have attended the various Carnivals with new teams from Bermuda and South Africa signing up for the Cape Town Carnival.

One of the great selling points of Vintage Cricket is that players of all standards play and socialise together because of one thing – love of the great game.

From Cam Thomas, a novice cricketer from Oregon, to anyone of the various ex-international cricketers who have played the emphasis is enjoyment.

Some of the ex-internationals include Barry Richards, who is President of Vintage Cricket, Geoff Howarth  and Joel Garner who are active ambassadors for Vintage, Franklin Stephenson, Bob Holland, Geoff Lawson, Aunshuman Gaekwad, Yajurvindra Singh and Franklin Rose.

The Carnivals are played over a week and feature 3 limited-overs matches and several social functions.

Vintage Cricket also assists in arranging other games on either side of the Carnivals for touring teams who want to make the most of the opportunity to play in new places as diverse as Rome, Adelaide, Los Angeles and Dublin.
